Bullshit as a Service
The modern keyboard warrior has evolved into something much worse, and all it took was access to free generative AI services - and no, this isn’t about AI-powered scams, it’s about poor judgment and getting lost in fantasy.
We used to deal with people who hid behind distance and anonymity. There were loud opinions, inflated confidence levels, and zero accountability - annoying, but manageable. Sprinkle a dash of AI on top and watch everything explode into absurdity that feels like National Lampoon’s take on The Lawnmower Man.
Weaponized Tone
LLMs don’t just refine arguments - they weaponize tone. Image generators, when combined with a distorted version of reality, fabricate a sense of presence. Together, they’ve created a new class of online antagonists: people who forge credibility, confidence, and status instead of earning any of it - and LinkedIn is flooded with them.
Suddenly, everyone looks ten years younger, thirty pounds leaner, and permanently on a rooftop in Lisbon between “advisory calls.” What began as a novelty demo has become a costume shop for people who need to look authoritative because they can’t sustain it in the real world.
LLM-Enabled Cosplay
This isn’t branding, folks, it’s cosplay. When it’s deployed as a business tactic, it crosses from cringe into deception. People aren’t engaging with professionals anymore; they’re engaging with avatars - carefully constructed personas designed to trigger trust, admiration, and authority without the inconvenient step of being real.
Let’s be painfully clear: that’s not marketing - it’s catfishing with a SaaS subscription.
When AI-generated personas influence buying decisions, especially among people who don’t know better, we’re no longer talking about keyboard warriors - we’re talking about AI-enabled conmen.
AI should amplify substance. When it’s used to fabricate credibility, it exposes the absence of it. If this post makes you uncomfortable - good. That discomfort is the tell.
